Sparaxis is a genus in the Iridaceae family that is endemic to South Africa and found mostly in the south-western Cape and the western Karoo. They are easy to grow in Mediterranean climates. They have been in cultivation for a number of years and there are many colourful hybrids grown as well.. Sparaxis hybridize easily in the garden. Dark purple flowers are a highlight of this 5 to 7 leaved plant. Sow in Autumn.
