They are considered fairly easy to grow and they may produce large quantities of seeds that germinate freely around the parent plant. Mound-forming plant with bristly white spines. Startling bright orange flowers, funnel-shaped, 4.5 cm. long, 4 cm diameter from the base of the stems. Flowers are produced profusely in spring, and remain open for up to six days.
